Brigid of Faughart Festival 2017 will take place between Sunday 29th January and Sunday 5th February 2017

The festival celebrates Brigid of Faughart, as both Saint and Goddess, and the Celtic Festival of Imbolc or Spring. The emphasis of the festival is to revisit and reclaim the richness of the traditions associated with Brigid of Faughart in ways which are relevant to our lives in the 21st Century.

Burns Day at the Green Church – 4pm 26th January.

The Ulster Scots Agency will be hosting an event at St. Nicholas’ Parish, Church of Ireland, Church Street, Dundalk on Thursday 26th January at 4pm.

 

The event will mark Burns Day which takes place on the 25th January.

 

It is intended that Minister Humphreys will be attending this event to lay the wreath at the Burns Monument within the Church grounds, along with the CEO of the Ulster Scots Agency, Board members and members of the Belfast Burns Club.

 

The event should be finished at 6pm with light refreshments provided.

Dance Kids’ celebrate ‘December Delights’ success

Freda Hearty and the Dance Kids have once again exceeded expectations and delighted audiences with their Christmas show ‘December Delights’. The talented Dance Kids aged from just four years danced and sang their hearts out last weekend when ‘December Delights’ took to An Tàin Arts Centre stage and brought the house down; with delighted audiences declaring it “the best show yet”.

Dundalk: 26th out of 40 towns / cities surveyed. Clean to European Norms

There were no heavily littered areas in Dundalk. Some of the very good sites surveyed included Dundalk Grammar School, Clanbrassil Street and Dundalk Train Station, with the latter registering a noted improvement over a previous survey. The V & W Recycle Facility was nicely adorned with planting and was impeccable throughout.  Dundalk Institute of Technology was let down by the very heavy levels of cigarette butts – it is quite unusual to see a Green Flag Campus environment so heavily plagued by cigarette butts.
