Family Addiction Support Network in Dundalk to host awareness event – 24th Feb

On the back of the National Drugs’ Strategy ‘Reducing Harm, Supporting Recovery; a health led response to drug and alcohol use in Ireland 2017-2025’ and to the mark the International Family Drug Support Day on February 24, the Family Addiction Support Network in Dundalk is organising its second annual information/awareness event at their premises on Monday.

As part of a campaign to have a full immersion Gaelcholáiste open in Dundalk under the patronage of An Foras Pátrúnachta, parents are also looking at how to promote Irish with the nextgeneration.

The first step of this is to open a Youth Club ‘as Gaeilge’ supported by Ógras of Conradh na Gaeilge, with a maiden registration night for interested children taking place this Thursday February 13th at 7pm in the Dundalk Conradh na Gaeilge building at 5 Seatown Place.

TREE OF REMEMBRANCEThe tree of remembrance is present in St Nicholas, Dundalk again this year. If you are in the church at any time, whether for a service or otherwise, do feel free to take a tag and write a prayer upon it for your needs or the needs of others and then tie it on the tree as another way of offering prayer to God. Tags and pens are available at the position of the tree. The tags will be burned on Ash Wednesday as a symbolic way of collectively offering all the prayers through Christ to the throne of God’s grace.

Dundalk woman awarded OBE

Dundalk woman Colette Cohen has been awarded an OBE for her services to the Oil and Gas industry and government collaboration.

Ms Cohen, who hails from Haggardstown, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Oil & Gas Technology Centre in Aberdeen.

She was recognised in the New Year’s Honours list along with other professionals who have climbed to the top of their fields.

Colette was appointed the CEO of the Scottish company Oil & Gas Technology Centre in 2016.

Annual CO2 emissions savings from the Dundalk SEZ have been progressively increasing. By 2010 emissions had decreased by over 4000 tonnes. It is estimated that the targets, once reached, will save almost 10,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum.

A second wind turbine will be introduced to the town to power the Xerox campus.
