THE dusk to dawn ‘Darkness Into Light’ walk has been a date to save for thousands of people across Louth over the last few years.
But with Covid restrictions continuing to impact on public events, the annual Darkness into Light event will take on Saturday 8th May 2021 with participants asked to complete the 5km walk or run in their own time and while adhering to all public health guideline that are relevant at the time.
Seán Kelly, Event Director for Dundalk added ‘ Our DIL 2021 event will be entirely community based. Walkers will take part in their own time from dawn to dusk on Saturday May 8th and on their own route. No venues will appear on website – instead, it will be a county by county basis to avoid confusion and people turning up at venues, so we are asking local people to select ‘Louth’ when registering.’
He explained that the committee in Dundalk and other committees in the Northeast ‘are engaging with Pieta and are pushing hard for a centre to open locally here.’
Pieta is now deemed an essential service and all centres remain open and fully operational for face to face, phone and video therapy, and our helpline remains operating 24/7 on 1800247247 as does the text line 51444.
