THE Annual Carlingford Half Marathon/10K in aid of St. Brigid’s School will take place on March 1st, in the picturesque village of Carlingford and the surrounding Cooley Peninsula.

‘This is the ninth year we are running this event in order to raise much needed funds for St Brigid’s School,’ says organiser, Orla McBride. ‘ We first held it as a result of the school losing it’s Speech Therapy Services and the parents and friends of St Brigid’s have successfully organised the event ever year since,’ says Orla McBride. ‘The event has continued to grow each year, more and more registering to participate in the race. Already we have over 500 people registered to run/walk, we now expect the numbers to be over 1000.’

Because of the success and size of the event, we have now engaged the services of 26 Extreme who are professional event organisers.

The course will be AAI registered and time chipped, with all finishers receiving a notification of their official finish time. There will also be prizes for winners and medals for all finishers.

The race will start at the Four Seasons Hotel, Carlingford at 10.30am, with stewards all along the route, including water stations for both half marathon and 10k. Register online at www.runinreland.com or active.com.

All registered entrants must go the Leisure Centre at the Four Seasons on the day of the race, in order to pick up their registration packs. Registration between 9-10am.

Due to Garda traffic restrictions nonrunners cannot enter the half marathon. All walkers are welcome to enter the 10K.

Refreshments after the race will be available from the Four Seasons Hotel.
