Dundalk Brass and Music Generation Louth’s Junior Brass Band will be featured on the popular RTE Radio One show Country Wide on Saturday April 19.
The programme’s team visited Dundalk to record the programme earlier in the month and, as well as speaking with band members, they also popped into the Junior Brass Band’s rehearsals.
Music Generation Louth’s Junior Brass Band in the programme as it was established last year in close association with the senior band to create a new generation of brass players.
Junior Brass Band musicians take part in a weekly band rehearsal under the expert guidance of Music Generation Louth tutor Michael Gaskin who himself started out his musical life in the Dundalk Brass Band.
‘We are so pleased at how the junior brass band programme is developing,’ said Gemma Murphy, Music Generation’s Louth co-ordinator.
‘The group has only been playing for a year but already they are making a lovely sound. The young musicians are really dedicated and we are so fortunate to have Michael as their tutor.
‘Everyone is practicing hard now for the end of year concert in June when they will join all our other new Music Generation Louth ensembles for what promises to a brilliant end of year musical celebration.’
