Retailers Welcome Stronger Garda Presence

The retailers of Dundalk town centre have welcomed the presence of a full time Garda in the town centre over the last couple of weeks. Edward Boyd of Clanbrassil Street Centre remarked on the number of customers who have approached him recently stating they have said  how much safer they felt in town as a result of the Garda on duty adding this is a very positive move by the Garda and is most welcomed by all retailers.

Andrew Mawhinney Town Centre Manager commented “safety and security is so important in the town centre. He recognised the difficult role that the Garda have at the moment with resources stretched to the limit and thanked Superintendent Gerry Curley

Andrew also paid tribute to the Town Watch Committee under the stewardship of Marshes manager Harry Traynor and chairman Sean Farrell who have  worked tirelessly in bring together the different business interests of Dundalk, together with the Garda to help monitor safety and security on the town. “It hasn’t been easy in attracting more people into Dundalk it has to be a safe place and this action by the Garda is a very positive step.
